Keep Safari as your default, but open some sites in Chrome

For the bank, the work tool, or the one site that only works in Chrome.

The short answer

You like Safari, but one site only works in Chrome. Make Safari Bouncer’s fallback, so your links still open there, and add a rule that sends just that site to Chrome, or any other browser and profile. For a one-off, hold Option as you click a link and pick a browser.

How to set it up

  1. Install Bouncer and make it your default browser.
  2. Set your Fallback Browser to Safari, or whichever browser you like best.
  3. Add a rule with an example link from the stubborn site, choose any page on that site, and pick Chrome.
  4. Just this once? Hold Option as you click a link in Mail, Slack, or another app, then pick a browser.

Questions

No. Bouncer sees the links you click in other apps, like Mail, Messages, or Slack. A link you click in a Safari page stays in Safari.

Yes. Any browser Bouncer supports can be the fallback or the target of a rule, and so can its profiles.
